Oh My Zsh

Recently, I switch my bash shell to oh my zsh. It is a personalized and powerful shell. There is an question. Why use Zsh?

It is an simple reason for me. Oh My Zsh could show me whole path expansion as below:

Whole path expansion is very important, especially for who is new to program. Zsh provides only one distinct match for the file you want. It could help you not to delete your important file. Several days ago, I deleted my finished python assignment by accident. It is so sad that I have to rewrite it. Some freshers might have the same experience like me. Well, Zsh would help you prevent that situation.

Install oh my zsh

You can install oh my zsh automatically via the command line below. curl -L http://install.ohmyz.sh | sh
After installation, restart your terminal and enjoy oh my zsh.

Make your own oh my zsh

Oh my zsh provides different themes, you can change anyone you want.

To use: Set ZSH_THEME in ~/.zshrc to the theme you want. Here my theme is ‘dpoggi’.

You can edit theme in ~/.oh-my-zsh/themes/dpoggi.zsh-theme, depend on your need.

You can change color and add some funny icon, even Chinese Character. What you need to do is to find out its Unicode.
